I never completed a list of resolutions for New Years. I’ve always felt that the very act of putting them down on paper was a death sentence to any planned good intentions. However, breaking my own rules, I did vow to complete three blog-related objectives… even if I am a bit late in starting.
1. Destash and only buy crafting materials that I need to finish a project.
2. Take a picture everyday, even if the lighting is terrible.
3. Complete a project every week.
Better late than never, right? I’ve been successful at number one. I’m not a big spender (hah, just take a gander at my choices in yarn. Need I say more?) and I just don’t have the room for a large stash. Number two hasn’t gone as well. I harbor a great deal of frustration in my camera. No matter what I do, the lighting always seems off and the macro setting is a joke. Still, I will persevere until I can afford a better camera. Finally, number three has been off to a promising start. I have fallen in love with baby projects. With craft ADHD as bad as mine, small projects are a requirement if they ever want to see the FO pile.
In line with my objectives, here’s some finished (and almost finished) projects:

My first sweater ever! Fulfills all three objectives, too!

Saartje’s Booties from Saartje Knits. Finished and just waiting for buttons.

Rummaging through my yarn supply for baby-suitable (read - washable) materials, I emerged with yarn for these projects:

JaBOGS- Just a big ol’ granny square. Made from Bernat Baby Coordinates

I’m far too cheap to actually buy the Mason-Dixon Knitting book, so I just improvised. Made from some random cotton yarn.

I’m planning on using cloth diapers, so it only seemed to make sense to knit up some wool diaper covers. This one was made from the WHW pattern.
A pair of socks and mittens are currently residing on my needles, but I’m still trying to get past the frustration the first little sock gave me. I love toe-up patterns. I really, really do. However, I don’t think the feeling is mutual. No matter what I do, I screw up the heel. It’s not that I have the lack of knowledge to complete it successfully… I just have no attention span. I’ll give them another try tonight. Updates to follow.

Looking at my Ravelry page, I suddenly realized that I haven’t made an effort to update this blog since October. This was due to many reasons:
1. College - a full course-load of classes and research.
2. Job hunting - which left me employed for a total of 2 hours before I quit. Long story.
3. Graduation - Beyond all my expectations, I finished my degree in two and a half years. Don’t ask me how… I’m still not sure.
4. The holidays - Holidays always murder my free time. This year was pretty hectic.
5. Oh yeah, and this:

Notes lovingly added by the Mecha-hubby.
Yes, that’s right, I’m pregnant! We’re expecting our li’l nooblet on July 4th! We hope to find our the gender next week, but a gender-neutral name has already been decided upon. Expect some crafty-type updates within the next couple days!
