Daleks, Frittatas, and Babies.

First of all, I have become hopelessly addicted to Doctor Who recently.  After surfing around on Ravelry, I found a pattern for a Dalek dishcloth called EXFOLIATE!  I mean, how could I NOT knit one?

EXFOLIATE!

Let us please mourn the loss of my Harry Potter Ravenclaw scarf which sacrificed its short life to become this amazingly awesome dish cloth.  Amen.

Secondly, what do you do when your husband makes pounds upon pounds of spaghetti?  You make spaghetti frittata!  Om-nom-nom!

Frittata!

The recipe can be found here!  You can basically add anything to this dish - we added a bit of leftover ham lunchmeat and some shredded cheese.  It was amazing!

And, finally, the requisite cute baby picture!

Green!

An adventure in baby food.

What type of insane human being buys 8 lbs of carrots, 10 lbs of potatoes, and ungodly huge bags of spinach for no real reason other than “hey, they were a good value.”?  Me, obviously.

Now, what do you do with said truckload of veggies?  Why, make a truckload of baby food, of course!

Left:  Chicken/veggie medley  Right:  Spinach, carrots, and potatoes. Yummy, huh?

Carrots and potatoes

Seriously, though.  All this (there are also two more ice cube trays not pictured) may have cost me a total of $4 to make.  Much, much cheaper than jarred baby food.
Oh yeah, and here’s one of the things I’ve been working on:

And it’s reversable!

Longcat is LOOOOOOOOONNNNNGGG!
And, for good measure, here’s a picture of the Nooblet opening her Valentine’s Day present from her boooyyyfffrieeend.

Adorable… utterly adorable.

Shake, rattle, and roll?

I admit, lately there hasn’t been much action on the crafting front due to various Nooblet-related events. Doctor’s appointments, baby get-togethers, birthing classes… it seems that we have somewhere to hurry to almost every day. Even so, I managed to find a few minutes to complete a rattle to go with the Nooblet’s carrot sweater.

Pattern from Bittersweet! There’s a cat-toy inside so that it jingles.

Hopefully I’ll have a few more crafty updates before the end of the month. I really should start getting cracking on diaper covers!

21st April 2008

Waddling past the point of no return.

Has it really been more than 7 months already? I never knew that pregnancy would fly by so quickly. I’m finally entering the time where I actually look, feel, and walk like a stereotypical pregnant woman. So far, I’ve had no complications and only minor brushes with nausea and heartburn. I’m happy to report that I don’t have gestational diabetes or blood pressure issues and the Nooblet seems to be healthy. Let’s just hope it stays that way. Tomorrow the Mecha-hubby and I start our Prepared Childbirth classes and I can only hope they’ll put some of my paranoia about hospitals to rest.

I haven’t been doing quite as much knitting as I was a couple weeks ago, but I did manage to finish the Curly Purly soaker that I started far too long ago.

Made with the Easter egg-dyed Fishermen’s Wool with undyed cuffs.

We’re still planning on cloth diapering (with prefolds) at least part-time while I’m still at home. We’ll see how it goes before investing too much money into CDing supplies. If nothing else, I’ll have some cute diaper covers to pass onto a friend or charity.

Happy Spring - Happy Allergy Season

The first day of Spring blew in with a gust of cool air… and so did allergy season. Sitting here, I find myself simultaneously alternating between states of stuffiness and sniffliness, wondering if my allergies are flaring up just for the very fact that today is the first day of spring or if it’s only a coincidence.

Seasonal complaints aside, I finished the Nooblet’s brown sweater last night and finally managed to drag out the camera for a couple of unimpressive shots.

The sleeves drove me insane.

Detail of the adorable buttons.

And, because almost every photoshoot eventually degrades into vying of attention by the kitty-boys, here is one final picture.

I bet Houdini would fit in that sweater…

Coming soon!

Cerberus

I’ve had a fair number of requests on Ravelry for my Cerberus pattern. After far too much procrastination, I have finally found the determination to begin working on it. If all goes as hoped, I should have the pattern up by Saturday. Depending on the amount of time I have after the Nooblet is born, Cerberus might be the first in a line of mythology-inspired amigurumi that I may or may not sell on Etsy. It all depends on my competency in writing a pattern.
